6/9 Worked on the annual and finally finished it!

6/10 Went to Seiler's party. TP'd Doc Hassan's place late. Stayed at Seiler's all night.

Week of May 29

5/29 Took senior class trip to Cedar Point. It was great. Rained lightly all day. Spent $10.

5/30 Went back to school and worked on the annual with Newman and Westall. Got 1st in District and 18th in State in English 12 scholarship test.

5/31 Went back to school again and worked on annual all day. Went to Hector's and Sexton's for pictures.

Week of May 22

5/22 Went on Senior Class field trip. Went to Cooper Tire in the morning and Whirlpool in the afternoon.

5/23 Arlene Rausch's birthday. Back to the last 4 days of school. Had mostly reviews all day.

5/24 Early octet and triple trio practice. Had most of exams all day. Had awards assembly. Music banquest in the evening. Went to Seiler's and did physics.

5/25 Had early octet practice again. Had last of exams. Practiced my solo for graduation. Went with Fense to play tennis at Findlay College.

5/26 Last day of High School. Bittersweet day. Had commencement practice all afternoon. Went to our party at Jenera and stayed all night with the guys and had a blast.

5/27 Got in at 7:15 AM from party.

5/28 Graduation Day 1972. Had ceremony in church, then Baccalaureate and party after. Sang solo and with the ensemble. Did the invocation and accompanied 2 solos and ensembles for commencement.

Week of May 15

5/15 Had assembly 9th period and saw movie. Played Bball after school. George Wallace was shot today.

5/16 Starting to get warm. Busy day.

5/17 Really nice weather. Threw baseball with Dukes. Went to Distinguished Student Banquet at L-B.

5/18 Rally nice weather again. Difficult sitting in school all day. Worked on my Problems term paper after school.

5/19 Went to school just in the morning. Got pictures taken for newspaper. Came home and worked in the field all afternoon.

5/20 Kevin Latham's birthday. Had first baseball practice at Ottawa all afternoon. Went to the prom in the evening.

5/21 At the post prom at Lehman's Lodge all night. Wore tux to church.

Week of May 8

5/8 Went to McComb after school to practice our honor society banquet. Had long play practice and played ping pong at Fense's.

5/9 My sister got sick and I had to take her home. Won first game in ping pong tourney. Had long play practice. Played ping pong at Fense's.

5/10 Had physics and college English tests. Won ping pong game at noon. Beat Anderson and Dion. Had honor society initiation - my last job as county honor society president. Went out with the guys.

5/11 Lost doubles in ping pong to Webb and Warren. Fense and I went putt-putting. Had last play practice.

5/12 Went to school at noon. Directed Mixed Chorus and skipped Music class. Senior play - "Ask Any Girl" was put on.

5/13 Acted in our Senior Class Play, "Ten Little Indians." It went really well.

5/14 Went to Mrs. Coburn's for play party.

Week of May 1

5/1 Law Day - had 2 lawyers come to speak to us in Problems class. Had busy day with Honor Society. Long play practice all evening.

5/2 Early triple trio practice. Talked to Honor Society sponsor from McComb. Had busy day. Worked long jump pit at track meet. Voted in primary as a democrat for McGovern. Had late play practice.

5/3 Triple trio and octet practice in the morning. Long play practice all night. Casual day at school, wore shorts and no socks.

5/4 Didn't go to school. Stayed home and worked in the field plowing all day. Wen to concert practice. Mr. Rossman's baby got sick.

5/5 Taught special ed. at high school all morning. Had good Spring Music concert. Went to play ping pong at Miller's.

5/6 Took scholarship test at L-B all morning. Dukes and I went to the drive-in.

Week of April 24

4/24 Had triple trio practice in the morning. Easy day. Had play practice at school all evening.

4/25 Another easy day at school. Worked the long jump at the track meet. Shafer set the long jump record. Had long play practice.

4/26 Triple trio practice early. Had tests in Trig and Physics. Went with Dukes to look for tux. Had play practice and went clear through the play finally.

4/27 Easy day. Took over 8th period World History.

4/28 Got out of school all afternoon to go to the BVC track meet. We came in 2nd. Went to play Putt-putt after.

4/29 Had last computer lab class at Findlay College. Dukes, Fense, and I went to get our prom outfits and then went putt-putting.

Week of April 17

4/17 Early play practice. Arlington kids came for dinner. Went to county chorus practice.

4/18 Early play practice. Played piano for Boys' chorus. Had county chorus practice at Vanlue all afternoon. Had Boys' Glee practice at night.

4/19 Taught at Mr. Cory all day with Webb. Had the special Ed. class. Played ping pong after school. Rained hard. Played piano for county chorus concert at Vanlue.

4/20 Had early mixed chorus practice. Took last of organization pictures all afternoon and after school. Play practice after school.

4/21 Had early Boys' Glee practice and early play practice. Had hard English test. Worked on annual. Went to Freshman dance by myself.

4/22 Long day at State Music Contest at Grove City. Left at 6 AM and got back at 7:30. Band got I, I, II, I - I. Boys' Glee II,II,II - II. Mixed Chorus I, I, II - I.

Week of April 10

4/10 Handed in my research paper. Early play practice. Went to County Chorus practice at night and played the piano.

4/11 Early play practice again. Went to Newman's with Fense and played pool.

4/12 No play practice. Had hard English test.

4/13 Had hard Trig test. Rally warm. Threw baseball for the first time. Worked long jump at the track meet. We won. Had play practice late.

4/14 Early play practice. Took 2 tests in Physics. Put on a skit at Latin Banquet. Took Fense and Newman bowling.

4/14 Fense and I went to play Putt-Putt.

Week of April 3

4/3 Back to school. Hassan got mad about something. Had County Chorus practice at Van Buren all night with Dr. Van Isse directing us. Worked on research paper late.

4/4 Had early play practice. Played organ for the Art Show during the evening.

4/5 Had triple trio practice early. A guy from Bell & Howell came and talked at noon. Had long play practice for 2 1/2 hours at night.

4/6 Had easy day without too much happening except that Westall tried to beat me up. Went to track meet at Ada with Fense. We lost bad. Rained hard.

4/7 Normal day. Took Diane to early play practice. Ice so thick that car doors were frozen shut. Snowed quite a bit. Took Diane home and worked on research paper all night.

4/8 Had computer seminar at Findlay college in the morning.

Week of March 27

3/27 Worked on annual all morning and after school. Went to County Chorus practice and was chosen to play the piano for 2 songs.

3/28 Had early morning play practice. Had tests all day. Sent 2nd annual shipment in.

3/29 Had easy last day of school for this week.

3/30 Maundy Thursday - no school.

3/31 Good Friday - no school.

Week of March 20

3/20 Had 3 Study Halls because of teacher absences. Worked on annual all day and after school. Went to Winter Sports Banquet where the triple trio sang.

3/21 Decided to go out for track for one night. Cut tracks and fields with the guys and got a ride and fell off the car. Probably won't go out for track. Went to Senior BBall banquet at Elk's club. Mr. Deeds punched Bob Muniz.

3/22 Really tired. Had early morning play practice. Went to library with Dukes after school.

3/23 Coach Roth, Berry, and Clevi at State Bball tourney. Worked on annual after school.

3/24 Coaches still at state tourney. Ran hurdles after school.

Week of March 13

3/13 Had first play practice early in the morning. Saw a movie in College English. Had to work on annual after school. Had chorus practice from 7-9.

3/14 Took Diane to play practice at 7:30 AM. Had quiz in Problems. Had chorus practice at noon. Worked on annual after school.

3/15 Early morning triple trio practice. Had assembly on drugs for first 2 periods. Worked on annual after school.

3/16 Had play practice in morning. Had class meeting. College English class was in the library. Went to Hardin-Northern BBall game with Businger and Fense and they won the 1st regional game.

3/17 Had easy day with several quizes. Worked on annual after school.

3/18 Got up early and went with band and chorus to Delphos to District Music Contest. Band got I II I II - I. Chorus - 3 I's. Boys' Glee - 3 I's. Went to Warren's BBall party.

Week of March 6

3/6 Stayed after school to work on annual and then went to Fense's to eat. Had Boy's Glee and Mixed chorus practice from 7-9.

3/7 Had a good argument with Roth on my grade.

3/8 Had early morning triple trio practice. Went to Mt. Cory and Rawson to pass out Annual sales. Stayed after school and worked on annual till 6.

3/9 Went to Mt. Cory at noon to sell annuals. Stayed after school to work on annual.

3/10 Had easy day in school. Van Isse from Findlay college came out and directed the choir. Worked on annual.

3/11 Went to girls' BBall game. We lost. Diane took me to BGSU to audition in voice.

Week of Feb 28

2/28 Took most of the yearbook pictures of sports and chorus.

2/29 Stayed home sick today. Nice weather - got up to 70.

3/1 Went back to school but had bad cold. Went to Fense's after school.

3/2 Stayed home all day with a bad cold. School was cancelled because of ice.

3/3 Still sick - stayed home.

Week of Feb 21

2/21 No School - Holiday. Practiced at Diane's and Arlene's. Played pool at Newman's. Had late BBall practice.

2/22 The weather was like a day in the fall. Practiced with octet in morning. Had rather easy BBall practice. Drove Diane and Marty to Toledo Masonic Auditorium where we saw Pagliacci and Cavaleria Rusticana operas.

2/23 Went to triple trio practice in the morning. Also practiced with the trombone trio first period. Practiced at Diane's in the evening.

2/24 Had very early morning practice with Diane and Sue Ward. Had BBall practice (last one?).

2/25 Practiced at 7:15 AM with Sue Ward and triple trio. Easy BBall shooting practice after school. Went to Coach Roth's house for supper with the team. Then went to tourney game at Findlay with the team.

2/26 Got up at 5AM and went to Solo and Ensemble Contest. Got a II on my solo. Diane and Arlene both got I's. Got beat by Hardin-Northern in BBall tourney.

Week of Feb 14

2/14 Got a B in College English. Had rough BBall practice.

2/15 Didn't have BBall.

2/16 Had early practice with octet. Scrimmaged Bluffton at the college after school. Had Honor Society meeting at Arcadia. Played some dumb games.

2/17 Took Diane to early practice. Got a B in Trig test. Mrs. Coburn called OWU and told me that I got accepted. Played ping pong at Fense's. Easy BBall practice.

2/18 Had triple trio and octet practice early. Had a movie in Problems. Beat Ada at new Ada gym 71-67.

2/19 Took Diane to the college to practice solo. Beat Pandora-Gilboa in BBall.

Comment from Dick Roth about BBall season

As for the season, as I recall, we lost several games early then went on a pretty good streak to finish over 500. We lost to Hardin Northern in the tournaments. H-N had a very good team. I also remember that against McComb, Dukes and Shafer both scored over 30 points in a good victory. Jim Warren averaged a double-double over his last two seasons. In fact only once did he fail to score in double figures during that time. That is remarkable! You guys were a very hard working group. I have often told people that in my three years at C-R, I never left a practice or a game felling that you didn't work hard.

Week of Feb 7

2/7 Long Monday. Finished most of my scholarship forms. Practiced with Diane after school. Worked on Annual after that.

2/8 Octet practice in the morning. Practiced with the trombone trio at noon. Mrs. Collingwood absent. Scrimmaged in BBall.

2/9 Triple trio practice in the morning. Had drama assembly in morning. Mrs. Collingwood absent again. Had hardest BBall practice in a long time. Had practice with Diane at Findlay college.

2/10 Had practice with my solo in the morning. Had a test in Am. Problems. Had practice with Arlene after school. BBall practice after Freshman game.

1/31 Had Triple Trio practice in the morning. Had a football meeting to sell candy. Stayed after school and worked on annual. Had a BBall scrimmage.

2/1 Practiced with Arlene and Sue Ward in the morning. Easy BBall practice. Stayed after school and played piano for the Triple Trio at PTA meeting.

2/2 The military draft lottery for numbers was held. I got number 103. Practiced with Arlene in the morning. Had assembly by a guy from NASA in the morning. Got out early for parent-teacher conferences in the afternoon. Easy BBall practice.

2/3 Another easy day because school was let out all afternoon because of parent-teacher conferences. Had very easy BBall practice. Got very cold and windy.

2/4 Regular full day of school. Mr. Rossman was absent. Practiced with octet and triple trio. Went to McComb and beat them by 11 in BBall.

2/5 Got up early and went to Findlay to practice with Diane. Lost to Miller City by 1 in BBall.

1/24 Spent most of the day at Ohio Wesleyan talking to profs and coaches.

1/25 Went back to school but got out all day to teach 6th grade at Mt. Cory. Had a blast with the kids. Had an easy BBall practice.

1/26 Had Triple Trio practice in the morning. Had octet practice at noon. Got all of the exams back. Had another easy BBall practice.

1/27 Busy day. Snowed a little. Had practice with Arlene early. Got elected director of our College English play.

1/28 Didn't have a pep session. Had early practice with Diane and Triple Trio. Went to Findlay college to practice with Diane and Mr. Mitchell. Beat Arlington by 10 in BBall.

Week of Jan 17

1/17 Warmed up to 30 today. Augusto had first Phys. Ed and wrestling practice.

1/18 Had Football awards assembly. Had very hard BBall practice because coach Roth was mad about something. Augusto went to wrestling match.

1/19 Had Problems exam and Music exam. Augusto finding his way around pretty well now.

1/20 Had Trig, Music, and College English exams.

1/21 Last of exams. Mr. Roth absent. Played Newman in Push Button Football. Took Augusto to the school dance.

1/22 Took Augusto shopping and he bought a new shirt. Beat Leipsic here by 20 points.

Week of Jan 10

1/10 Talked about the Summer of '42 movie most of the day.

1/11 Jane Agnew's and Mike Duke's birthdays. The Mad magazine with "Trauma of '42" parody came out and I took it in. It was a big hit.

1/12 Mrs. Davies got sick so didn't have math class. Went with Roth to Arcadia and scrimmaged with them. Played an hour of piano dinner music for the Dairy Banquet.

1/13 Got out of most of school today to show a new exchange student from Brazil around. His name is Augusto Silva. Got out of school at 2:30 because of more snow.

1/14 Had interesting day with Augusto. Took him to wresting practice and home. Lost BBall at Hardin Northern 57-37.

1/15 Left my car at school over night. Towed it to garage in the morning to get it fixed. Beat Allen East here 50-44.

1/16 Went to where Augusto is living to visit. Rode snow mobile for quite awhile.

Week of Jan 3

1/3 Stayed at home with my brother because he was sick.

1/4 Finally went back to school. Good day other than there were tests in both Problems and College English. Had our first good snow. On the way home from BBall practice I slid my car clear around while going across a small bridge and went backwards into the ditch. Had to be pulled out with a tractor.

1/5 Mrs. Collingwood absent. Had Campus Life assembly. Buses were all late. Really cold.

1/6 Still snowing. Got stuck in our driveway.

1/7 Beat Liberty Benton in BBall.

1/8 Elvis's birthday. Went to see Summer of '42 movie with Bubba and Fenster.

Week of December 20

12/20 Had a sit-in in the cafeteria today.

12/21 Had Christmas concert practice for 2 hours.

12/22 Easy BBall practice. Had a dress rehearsal of Christmas concert at night.

12/23 Had a tough physics test today. Had an assembly after lunch and had pantomimes. Had our concert at night. Really good time.

12/24 No snow and no school.

Week of December 13

12/13 Long day working on annual all day. Had really rough BBall practice.

12/14 Worked on annual again. Went to the photo store in Findlay twice. Stayed after school and worked on annual. No BBall practice but team went to see Cincinnati BBall game.

12/15 Triple Trio practice in the morning. Difficult to get through all of the school work because we had to finish the annual.

12/16 Triple Trio practice in morning. BBall after school.

12/17 No pep session. Last day for student teachers. Beat Arcadia in BBall 66-55.

Week of December 6

12/6 Worked on annual for 2 periods and after school. Had Bball practice and scrommaged most of the time.

12/7 Rained all day. Lost champ of league in push button football to Newman. Scrimmaged Findlay's JV's in BBall. Triple Trio sang at Soil Conservation banquet.

12/8 Rained again. Traded senior pictures with nearly everyone.

12/9 Listened to Jesus Christ Superstar in American Problems.

12/10 Hectic day with annual work. Lost BBall game to Vanlue 75-56.

12/11 Lost BBall at Wapak St. Joe 108-75.

12/12 Went to hear Messiah at Heidelberg college.

11/29 Took the Air Force aptitude test all afternoon.

11/30 Met with the Annual salesman after school. Also had Triple Trio practice and Bball practice.

12/1 Busy most of the day with the Annual. Had chorus practice after school.

12/4 District Choir practice. Went to the SAT test from 8:30 to 5:00. Lost Bball game at night to Bluffton 68-66. Went to Jac & Do's after the game.

Week of November 22

11/22 Had bball practice in morning but nobody told me about it. Instead I was at triple trio practice. Had the Football banquet in the evening. The triple trio sang at the banquet.

11/23 Had "Meet the Team" night for basketball. Scrimmaged New Reigel.

11/24 Had a hard test in College English. A Dr. of Philosophy spoke for our Thanksgiving assembly.

11/25 Thanksgiving Day. Jim Warren's birthday.

11/26 Went to Ohio Wesleyan all morning. Had an interview and tour. Lost our first bball game to Columbus Grove 83-65.

Week of November 15

11/15 88 kids absent today. First day of hunting season. Had first basketball practice.

11/16 Had early triple trio practice. Had hard bball practice. Got honorable mention all-BVC halfback. Went to seniors banquet at Hardin-Northern.

11/17 Had early chorus practice. Went to Rawson and Mt. Cory to pass out pictures. Had an assembly and play. Got bball uniform.

11/18 Had triple trio practice. Had Fball and class meeting at noon.

11/19 Ordered senior announcements during last period. Had bball scrimmage with 3 schools at Bowling Green high school.

11/20 Left at 7 AM to go to Kent State with Barb Bowyer where we took a scholarship test. It was a long day at the campus.

Week of November 8

11/8 Last week of football. Watched film from last week.

11/9 Snowed all day. Had 2 extra study halls because Mr. Rossman was out. Had cold and wet football practice on the field.

11/10 Had our very last pad practice under the lights on the field. Last time on the sled. Had Honor Society social at our school. Had a play and Webb played the guitar and he and I sang "Country Roads".

11/11 Warmed up quite a bit. Had the last football practice. Jim Warren won the pass and run contests. I got 12th and 10th. Steve Anderson won the kick contest. I got 9th.

11/12 Got out of school for half day because a teacher died. Played last football game and won 13-0 over Bluffton making us the first CR team to go 10-0. Had a 65 yard TD pass called back because Sammy was holding. Shafer had party after. We TP'd Linda Boehm's house.

Note: My recollection of the long pass from Shafer was that I caught it in the back of the end zone and then fell into the crowd. They picked me up and tossed me back onto the field. I remember feeling like I was air borne. Then I remember Bubba running downfield to congratulate me. Fortunately he didn't jump on me. Then we saw the flag back upfield and trotted slowly back. It was thrilling for a minute.

There was a play in the 3rd quarter where I caught a pass from Shafer in the flats on the right side. As I turned to start to run, one of the Bluffton guys just bulldozed me - layed me out flat on my back and caused a fumble. The ball was at my feet and I flipped it up in the air with my feet and caught it while still on my back. It was a great film highlight.

I also remember that Coach let me run the ball on the last play of the year. Ran off left tackle. We were on about the 6 yard line. I could see the goal line after the handoff. Got tackled and reached out but came about a foot short of the goal. Ending the year with a touchdown would have been great. It was pretty disappointing.

11/13 Went to Lima Sr. and auditioned for District Chorus. Missed Basketball practice. JV's scrimmaged each other. Had Junior Dance at night.

Week of November 1

11/1 There was a blind man spoke in first period class.

11/2 Voted in the election for the first time.

11/3 Cold day. Rained and sleeted. Went to McComb all afternoon for the District FTA (Future Teachers of America) Meeting.

Note: How many of the people below actually became teachers? I only know of 3; Diane, Deb, and me. Any others?


11/4 Took group pictures all day. Only went to 1 class. Had fball dress rehearsal after school.

11/5 Was really cold all day. We won at Pandora-Gilboa 21-0.




11/6 First snow. Took all afternoon to get wagon ready for hay ride at night.

Week of October 25

10/25 Started new 6-weeks. Had Annual staff meeting after school. Easy fball practice - watched movie.

10/26 There was a fight in the hall between 2 guys. Not sure who they were.

10/27 Finished my first song in music appreciation class.

10/28 Got our first grade cards. Played Van Buren and won 75-6. It was Parents' Night at the game.



10/29 Fenster and I took off for Columbus early. Visited Ohio Wesleyan all morning. Went to Westerville and visited Otterbein in the afternoon. Went to the Vets Memorial auditorium in Columbus to see The Association.

Week of October 18

10/18 Had long football practice and watched movies. Time to get ready for winter - put snow tires on my car.

10/19 The choir got fitted for robes.

10/20 Drove to Van Buren and had Junior's Honor Society meeting.

10/21 We had a fire drill during and the whole class stayed outside after it was over.

10/22 We are No. 1 in the state in the football poll. We beat McComb on a wet field, 42-0.

Week of October 11

10/11 Cold and windy. We had a long Fball practice and movie. Had an Honor Society officer's meeting at Mrs. Collingwood's home.

10/12 Took 3 periods to work one physics problem. Had a hard Fball practice but the weather was nice.

10/13 Had to memorize an old English poem. Went to get my haircut. Mike Dukes was there at the same time. The Pirates won the 4th World Series game 4-3. Series is tied at 2-2.

10/14 Pirates won the 5th Series game 4-0. They lead 3-2. Had a difficult English test and dress rehearsal for tomorrow night's game.

10/15 This was a big football day. Everyone wore green and gold. No one talked for the whole afternoon. At the pep session we buried the 7-0 score from last year's Arlington game when we lost. The game was tough. At Arlington their whole team shook hands BEFORE the game. Then we beat them 14-0. I scored one touchdown. Every play seemed extra hard. Arlington started doing calisthenics during time-outs. Of course we started doing them back at them even harder until the coaches stopped us.



10/16 Quiet Saturday after the big win last night. Baltimore won in 10 innings 3-2 to tie the series at 3-3.

10/17 Pittsburgh won the world series by beating Baltimore 2-1. Went to Fense's and played ping pong.

Week of October 2

10/2 Visited Otterbein all day - Fense came along. Then came back for Homecoming dance at night.

10/3 My birthday - finally 18. Fense, Miller, and Dukes came over and took me to the drive-in to see an X-rated movie. Of course I could get in but they couldn't, so we had to turn around and leave.

10/4 Mrs. Collingwood absent. Took whirlpool for pulled muscle. Didn't practice very hard because of it. Freshmen beat Spencerville. Watched movie of last game.

10/5 Sang and played a song for PTA. Went to Fense's and played ping pong.

10/6 Weather turned cold. Fense and I went to library after practice. Played ping pong again.

10/7 School let out at 2:00 so I went to the Post Office to register for the draft. Chilly practice. Played ping pong at school afterwards.

10/8 Went with Mr. Derrickson and the photographers and Jim Newman and photographed all of the kids in all 3 schools for the whole day. Beat Leipsic in football 26 to 7.

Week of September 27

9/27 Saw video tape of last week's game. Had long easy practice.

9/28 Really got hot. Had movies in College English. Really hard FBall practice in the heat.

9/29 Hot again. Went with Jim Newman and Mr. Lowell Rossman to hear Ralph Nader speak at Findlay College. Was chosen editor of the 1972 annual. Had an easy pad practice. Freshman won their game, 6-0. Had the women's Football clinic.

9/30 Really hot again. Had fast and busy day. Had an easy dress rehearsal practice. We are No. 1 in the state poll.

10/1 Really warm again. Homecoming game. Kathy Warren - Queen, Gary Anderson - King. We beat Hardin-Northern 55-0. I had good first half but hurt my hip. Went to the hospital after the game.

Week of September 20

9/20 Didn't have much to do all day. Nominated homecoming attendants. Had easy practice. Fense and I went to the library.

9/21 Foggy in the morning. Kathy Warren was voted Homecoming Queen. Gave oral report in College English. Had hard practice in the afternoon.

9/22 Had my senior pictures taken. Cost $54 for everything.

9/23 Got A in American Problems test. Had hard College English test. Had our first class meeting. Had dress rehearsal in FB practice.

9/24 Beat Liberty-Benton at Liberty 33-0. Went with guys and TP'd Webb's house with 36 rolls. Seiler wrecked car in ditch. Got in around 3:30 AM.

Note: The TPing of Dan's place was done because we knew he would be a good sport and take it in the fun spirit that it was meant. I recall the scene, when we drove by afterward, it was like a mystical fairyland with all of the streamers hanging down and the pole lights lighting the place.

9/25 Rained all day. Dukes and Fense came over and we played ping pong and drove all over.

Week of September 13

9/13 Missed school because I was sick. Went to fball practice and watched films.

9/14 Back to school. Not much happening. Had hard pactice and watched last year's movie.

9/15 Usual school day. Got real dry and chilly. Went to Fense's and played ping pong.

9/16 We got our 1971 annuals today. It turned colder during our dress rehearsal in FB.

9/17 Beat Arcadia 24-0. Took Boose (John Businger) to Jac & Do's, then to a party at Westall's. Played ping pong at Seiler's place late.

9/18 Went to the JV game with Dukes, Miller, and Shafer. We won 12-0.

Morning Announcements

I was thinking of the morning announcements I made as Student Council President. (which didn't start until after Christmas Break. )

And remembered one I started with ,""Betcha by Golly Wow" - it's Tuesday" which got me to thinking about CKLW - in the Motor City~~.
So I Googled it. Wickopedia gives a brief history of the station, but ...... !

I know it looks weird, without the http://www/ but it works.... (maybe it's a Canadian website ?) all I know is that some of you guys with the monster stereos in your cars would crank it up so much, that I'd say, "I like this song, but, Please turn it down a little ! I CANADA stand it, this Loud !"

Band Activity

I know we had practices throughout the summer for parades at the town homecomings and then we practiced in the evenings closer to school for the band show at the fair. Then we worked in band class and after school to get ready for football game halftimes. We would usually use the same show for a couple of weeks. One show would be for a home game and then the same one for an away game.

I remember we would get extra points for helping to make noodles for the food tent at the fair and we had to clean up tables for the food tent also. What those points were for I have no clue. I think the football guys were supposed to sign up for that also since the food tent was run by the Music Boosters and the Athletic Boosters. Do you remember that at all?

After football was over we started working on things for the Christmas Concert, then district contests and state contests if we were lucky! After that we got ready for the Spring concert, and graduation.

Barb probably has something more specific written down. She kept very good scrapbooks over the years.

The most I remember about it, was it was fun!!!!! Another thing I remember... we used to practice on the Rawson field because the guys had football practice at the high school. Can't remember if we did this as seniors or not.This particular thing happened as a freshman. I used to get a ride to Rawson with Pam Baumier and we would call ahead to Winnies and they would have hamburgers ready for us when we got there. That way we weren't starved to death after practice!!! Did we really need it? Who knows!!!

September 11 - Saturday

The team went to Ohio State football game on a chartered bus all day.

September 10

Had first pep session. Clevy had his zipper down during the cheers. We played Vanlue and won 44 - 0. I started at half back both ways and was on all the special teams. Rushed 42 yds, received 26 yds with 1 TD.

Note - Just threw my personal stats in to get you guys remembering yours. I'll leave them out from now on.
